The first thing I must acknowledge is that I have never had cancer. I have had family member and friends who have and my hope in reading this book was to gain a better understanding of what someone with cancer experiences especially as to their mental and physical state.
Ms. Graff is someone who has experienced this, not once, but twice in her life. In this book which is the offshoot of her blog chronicling her journey, she speaks of the assurance her faith in God gives her to life through this ordeal and come out the other side stronger and feeling more blessed than before. Each page is a testimony to her trust in God as the healer and director of her life.
While this book is her powerful testimony as to God's sovereignty, I did not quite find what I was looking for in this book. While Ms. Graff did occasionally touch on the despair and difficulties associated with the diagnosis, treatment and recovery after surgery, the majority of the book was devoted to her testimony. As I stated earlier, I have not experience cancer personally so this may not be a fair assessment as to what the book can do as an encouragement for someone who is going through this experience.
To me this book was more an encouragement about courageous living and depending totally on God, regardless of your circumstances. If this was the purpose of the book then it has met its goal.
